Kincardine Soccer Field Gets New Lights

Kincardine | by Travis Jackson

EMC, Municipality and the community worked together to raise money for lights.

The future is brighter than ever for soccer players in Kincardine.

EMC Power Canada hosted an official opening ceremony for newly installed lights at the Bruce Avenue soccer field on Tuesday.

Senior Quality Assurance Manager at EMC, Alex Pizycki says ''(EMC) couldn't be prouder to be part of the community and do their part''.

EMC Power Canada worked with the Municipality of Kincardine to come up with the idea, and the project was approved last August.

EMC secured some additional sponsors for the roughly $120,000 project and offered free labour and parts.

Soccer is important to members of the community, according to Mayor Anne Eadie. She says soccer is the most popular sport in town, especially among youth. Eadie says the ability to play at night will limit congestion at Kincardine's other fields.

The Mayor would like to thank all of the companies that helped to make the Bruce Avenue soccer lights a possibility.
