Woman Charged For Driving While Smoking & Holding A Baby

Owen Sound Police say a 67 year old woman was handed eight tickets.

Owen Sound police say a 67 year old Georgian Bluffs woman was charged with multiple offences yesterday after a citizen called police to report a woman driving in downtown Owen Sound with a baby in her arms while smoking a cigarette.

At 11 in the morning,  police located the woman driving on 1st Avenue West.

They say she was driving with a one year sitting on the centre console of the vehicle and the 3 year old was seated, unbuckled, in the front passenger seat.

Police say the vehicle had no child safety seats in it.

The woman was issued a total of eight tickets by police under the Highway Traffic Act and Smoke Free Ontario Act with fines totalling over 14 hundred dollars.

Child and Family services helped in getting the children safely home.
