Facilities Booking Coordinator Andy O'Leary says sports that are increasingly popular in winter tend to be ice-related sports. He says girls hockey is on the rise, and the league is adding more teams.
O'Leary says summer sports that are on the rise include lacrosse, baseball and soccer.
The City says proof of residency is required to enrol with a city subsidized Minor Sports Group. The non-resident fee of $167 per child per sport applies to people living outside of Owen Sound.
Non-resident cards can be purchased the night of registration or in advance at City Hall, Suite 24 between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday to Friday, or call Service Owen Sound at 519-376-1440.
The City says it will accept cash, cheque, debit or credit cards for non-residents.
