If you are between the ages of 8 and 17 and would like to soar like a bird, then today is your day to fly.
The Saugeen Municipal Airport is hosting its Autumn COPA For Kids event.
From 9 am till 2 pm, kids ages 8 to 17 years old can come out to the Saugeen Municipal Airport for a free 20 minute flight.
The aviation program provides free of charge flights to youth as a means of introducing kids to the science of flight.
Pilot Jack Zeinstra encourages parents to bring their kids out for a free flight.
He says perhaps the experience will inspire some future aviation enthusiasts, adding it is an incredible experience that children will hold with them forever.
The COPA For Kids event has been made possible thanks the generosity of a number of pilots from the region who are donating their time and fuel to the cause.
Zeinstra says the Saugeen Municipal Airport will be bustling with activity all day long.
There is no need to register ahead of time, simply drop by the Saugeen Municipal Airport and register upon arrival.
Each youth will receive their own flight book, a briefing on the aircraft followed by the free airplane ride.
In June the Spring COPA For Kids event was held at the Saugeen Municipal Airport and 114 youth came out for a free flight.
Zeinstra expects today’s event to rival if not exceed that number.
