A portion of 3rd Avenue East closed due to construction should re-open in a few weeks.
Owen Sound's Director of Public Works and Engineering Dennis Kefalas says the $3.2-million reconstruction project is slightly ahead of schedule and expects it will be complete in three weeks.
A nearly 500m stretch of 3rd Avenue East just north of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre has been closed since June for the removal and replacement of watermains and sewers.
The project also includes the addition of curbs along the avenue and a new sidewalk on the east side.
Kefalas says crews have completed all the underground work and are currently working on hard surfacing.
