Port Elgin | by Travis Jackson

Vehicle located upside down in creek after man fled officers in Port Elgin

An arrest warrant is being sought for a 31-year-old Hanover man who fled police during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

At around 10:45pm that evening, police pulled over the man for a minor traffic violation in Port Elgin at the corner of Ivings Drive and Goderich Street.

The officer saw what he believed to be drugs inside of the vehicle and attempted an arrest.

However, the driver peeled away quickly and fled the area.

Police say the vehicle was located several hours later with extensive damage near the intersection of Side Road 18/19 and Concession 2 upside down in a shallow creek.

The driver had fled the area on foot.

Police are seeking any information that may help locate the suspect.
