The Barrie Colts are getting ready for the upcoming Ontario Hockey League (OHL) season.
They hosted the Niagara Ice Dogs Thursday night and fell by a score of 3-1.
Aidan Brown opened the scoring with a short-handed goal (with an assist by Ryan Suzuki) late in the first period for a 1-0 Barrie lead.
Niagara would tie the game up 1:55 into the second period on a goal by Oliver Castleman, then Kyen Sopa scored on the power play with 1:44 left in the period to give the Ice Dogs a 2-1 lead.
The Colts had plenty of chances in the third period to score but could get one past Colton Inzce (26 saves) who would keep the lead for the Ice Dogs.
Billy Constantinou would add an insurance goal in the third for the Ice Dogs.
Kai Edmonds made 27 saves for the Colts in the loss.
Power plays saw Niagara go 2-for-8, Barrie were 0-for-3.
The next preseason game for the Colts is Saturday night when they host the Peterborough Petes.
The regular season begins next Thursday night when the Colts entertain the Owen Sound Attack at the Barrie Molson Centre.
