MacLean Engineering Expands In Owen Sound

The company has just completed a 15,000 square foot expansion with an aim to double production.

MacLean Engineering in Owen Sound has just completed a 15,000 square foot (1,400 square metre) expansion of its manufacturing facility.

Vice President of Marketing & Communications Stuart Lister says it will double assembly capacity from five assembly bays to ten, with two ten-ton cranes. MacLean makes specialized mining and municipal vehicles.

Also part of the plan is a separate storage building for parts and an external loading ramp for rig deliveries.

An expansion celebration was held Monday (April 9th) to cut the ribbon on the new addition to the plant.

Warden Selwyn Hicks says Grey County is proud to have MacLean in the community.

Meanwhile, Lister says they used local trades wherever possible.

There are 140 people employed at MacLean’s in Owen Sound.

The expansion will eventually add an additional 50 to 60 people.

That will include welders, machinists, electricians, mechanics and administrative people.

MacLean has branch offices across Canada and also in Mexico, Peru, South Africa and Australia.
