Two people have been arrested after arousing police suspicion while driving on Gustavus Street in Port Elgin on April 11, close to 10 p.m.
A vehicle stop was preformed near Thede Drive where police say the 27- year old female driver from Hanover, appeared to be displaying signs of drug consumption.
A Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted, police say the driver performed poorly and was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle while impaired. Later in the evening she was then charged with; Fail to Comply with Probation – possession of drug paraphernalia, Fail to Comply with Probation – keep the peace and be of good behaviour and Possession of Illicit Cannabis – Cannabis Act She was released on a Promise to Appear.
During the vehicle stop police investigated the male passenger. Police say the male upon initial contact provided a false name to avoid detection.
The 29 year old male from Bruce County, was known to an officer and was placed under arrest. Police say further investigation revealed the male was in possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and was in possession of methamphetamine.
He was also charged with: 1. Obstruct Police 2. Possession of a weapon contrary to order 3. Fail to Comply with Probation – Keep the peace and be of good behaviour 4. Unauthorized possession of a weapon 5. Possession of Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
