With demolition of the former Chatsworth Community Centre well underway, the township's council is starting the process to work towards a new multi-use recreation facility.
Coun. Shawn Greig gave notice at the July 3 Chatsworth council meeting he intends to move a motion to spend up to $40,000 for conceptual drawings of a multi-use recreation facility.
Greig says the idea is to generate a design to show the community how the building would look.
"This is what we're looking at, this is what our desires are ... and this is something we can work towards," Greig explains.
Coun. Greig says when the Chatsworth Community Centre was condemned in 2017 there was really no plan in place for future recreation facilities.
"And we recongize that's maybe not the direction we want to take," Greig says. "What we're doing is putting a plan in place for possibly four, eight, 10 or 12 years down the road."
"If there is grant funding available and we have our part looked after, then maybe we can go after this project."
The notice of motion will be voted on at the next Chatsworth council meeting. If passed, the funds would be taken from Chatsworth's Parkland Reserves.
