Construction at KDSS Begins

Kincardine | by John Divinski

Physical site modifications are required to effectively manage KDSS becoming a Grade 7 to 12 school

Reconfiguring the outside grounds of Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) is about to start by the Bluewater District School Board.

It means there will be no parking allowed on the west side of River Lane when all is in place.

That side of the road, opposite the main entrance to the school, will be for school buses, dropping off Grade 7 and 8 students.

Kincardine Director of Building and Planning Michele Barr says the school board is also installing a sidewalk on the west side of River Lane so the students can exit the buses and use either the north or the south crossovers to the school.

The crossovers are also being developed.

They will be monitored by school staff when school begins.

Barr says the board has told her the work will begin sometime next week in order to be done by September.

The work outside is school is estimated to cost between $75,000 and $80,000 to be paid for by the school board.

Barr says physical site modifications are required to effectively manage KDSS becoming a Grade 7 to 12 school.
