Province Injects $376K Into Midwifery Services in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound

Grey Bruce | by Bayshore News Staff

Dollars are part of $28-million in funding being doled out province-wide.

The Doug Ford government has announced new funding for midwifery services and over $376,000 will be distributed in Bruce and Grey counties.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker says $376,866 will be provided to Midwives Bruce-Grey -- an organization that provides midwifery services in the area -- as part of the province's $28-million investment to expand midwifery services across Ontario.

Walker says midwifery care is a service many families have utilized and is an expanding need in the province.

"More and more people are making use of that service," MPP Walker says. "It is another option, it's another choice. And kind of the tenant of our government is to give people choice and allow them to make the decisions they feel are going to serve them best."

Walker says Midwives Bruce-Grey will take in the funding locally and administer it how they feel it will best serve the public.
