About 30-supporters of the Grey Bruce Labour Council held a short demonstration of solidarity outside the Kincardine constituency office of Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson.
In a prepared news release, the labour council stated, "The Ford government has spent its first year taking Ontario backwards. Everything from the environment, occupational health and safety and labour law to education and healthcare have suffered at the hands of a leader and a caucus that proves over and over that they 'are not for the people.'"
Spokesperson Dave Trumble says "They (Ford government) are for some people, but they're not for us."
He says the MPP's may be off from the legislature for the next five months but labour councils across the province will continue their demonstrations all summer long.
Trumble says workers from all walks of life are going to be waiting for the MPP's and make them accountable for what he calls, "This train wreck of legislation," that has resulted in cuts everywhere.
The President of the Society of United Professionals, Scott Travers says the message is simple, stating the cuts have to be rolled back that are hurting vulnerable people.
