Overdose Death Investigation At Saugeen First Nation

Grey Bruce OPP are investigating after a 24 year old woman died due to an apparent opioid overdose.

Grey Bruce OPP are investigating the death of a 24 year old woman at Saugeen First Nation.

Police were called at 4:15 Saturday morning (Aug 10th) to a residence on French Bay Road for a 24 year old woman without vital signs.

Police say early investigation has determined the woman experienced an apparent opioid overdose.

They say she was was given Naloxone prior to the arrival of emergency responders.

She was subsequently transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Police say the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Gaynor of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continue to thoroughly investigate this isolated incident, and no risks to public safety have been identified.

OPP say they are focused on maintaining public safety, respecting the victim and family members, and protecting the integrity of the investigative process during criminal investigations.
