School Bus, Horse Drawn Buggy Collide in Chatsworth

Chatsworth | by Matt Hermiz

No children in bus at time of incident.

A 35-year-old woman was taken to hospital and a horse euthanized after a collision between a school bus and horse drawn buggy in Chatsworth Township yesterday.

Grey Bruce OPP say they were called to the incident just after 9:15 a.m. Friday morning on Concession 12, between Side Road 5 and Side Road 6, southwest of Desboro.

The Chesley Fire Department and Bruce County paramedics were also called to the scene.

Provincial Police say the bus and horse drawn buggy were travelling in the same direction on Concession 12 and as the bus was passing the horse drawn buggy, the horse moved into the path of the school bus causing a collision.

OPP say there were no children in the bus at the time of the collision.

Police say the 35-year-old female driver of the buggy suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The horse was put down at the scene due to its injuries.

Grey Bruce OPP say no charges will be laid.
