Dedication and service to others has garnered some high praise for two Brockton Firefighters.
Firefighters Tom Buckle and Jim Shields are the recipients of the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada.
Both Buckle and Shields have dedicated twenty years of their lives to volunteer firefighting.
Fire Chief Mike Murphy says he is proud to recognize the dedication and the long standing commitment that these two firefighters have provided to their community over the past two decades.
The Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal honours members of a recognized Canadian fire service who have completed 20 years of services, 10 years of which have been served in the performance of duties involving potential risks.
Brockton also took time to honour Heavy Equipment Operator Larry Lippert who has served as a snowplow operator for 27 years.
Lippert received the Service Certificate just days before retirement.
He jokes that he will enjoy staying snug in bed this winter when the plows are on the road at 3 am.
Mayor Chris Peabody notes that he is incredibly grateful to all three individuals who have a combined 67 years of service to the community.
He says Brockton is fortunate to have such dedicated individuals serving the community.
