Hanover ER continues to be the second busiest ER in all of Grey Bruce, Bwhen it comes to patient volume, second only to Owen Sound' Grey Bruce Health Services.
Vice President Michelle Scime-Summers says over the past year the Hanover and District Hospital ER has treated almost 17 thousand patients.
This is quite impressive for the small rural hospital and the numbers are fairly consistent with the previous year.
Taking a look at the past six years however, it is clear that ER visits are on the rise in Hanover. (up almost 2 thousand patients from the 2013/14 year)
Yet despite the hustle and bustle of such a busy ER, Scime-Summers says patient survey results continue to demonstrate overall satisfaction with the care received.
100 percent of patients surveyed indicated that they received either excellent or very good care.
85% of respondents described their care as excellent, with the remaining 14.8% rating their care as good.
Scime-Summers says this bodes well for the Hanover and District Hospital as it continues to strive to provide the highest quality of care to patients.
Looking over the data, Scime-Summers notes that mental health and addictions ER visits are trending up.
She says the Hospital is actively working with mental health and addiction partners to connect these patients with the resources available.
While the majority of ER visits are non emergency, she notes that urgent, emergency and trauma cases are also trending upwards.
As for wait times, Scime-Summers says it is always a bit of a guessing game, however she says the Hanover ER wait times remain below the provincial average.
