Digital Main Street Initiative in Hanover, Minto

Grant establishes program to help small businesses achieve digital transformation.

A $17,500 dollar grant will be spent helping downtown businesses in Hanover as well as Minto increase their online presence.

The Digital Main Street initiative is an innovative program designed to help main street small businesses achieve digital transformation.

The $17,500 dollar grant has been used to establish a Digital Service Squad charged with the task of helping Hanover and Minto downtown small businesses enhance their use of digital tools and techniques to better evolve and grow.

At no cost to the business owner, the Squad will help businesses set up a Google Business Profile, conduct a digital-readiness assessment and provide digital training.

On top of all of this, the Squad will also provide assistance to those small businesses interested in applying for a $25 hundred dollar Digital Transformation Grant.

Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker calls it an exciting opportunity for small business owners, allowing them to modernize and better compete in the digital world.

Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson agrees, and encourages downtown businesses to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Hanover Economic Development Manager April Marshall says the Digital Main Street Program is all about providing small businesses with the digital tools they need to unlock new customers and grow their business.

In today's competitive digital economy, Marshall says it is important small businesses utilize the digital tools available so they are better equipped to strengthen their individual businesses.

She notes most people when making a purchase decision research online firstBy providing local businesses with the digital tools they need; Marshall is confident their enhanced online presence will prove to be very beneficial.

The $17,500 dollar grant is being shared between Hanover and Minto, with Hanover receiving $75 hundred dollars and Minto 10 thousand dollars.
