Brockton Councillor Steps Down

Brockton | by Robyn Garvey

Chris Oberle resigns to become prosecutor.

Chris Oberle has resigned as a Brockton Councillor after accepting a position within another municipality to serve as prosecutor. (he prefers not to name the municipality at this point)

As part of the terms of conditions of the prosecutor position, Oberle says he is no longer able to hold public office.

Oberle who is in his second consecutive term on Brockton says he has truly enjoyed serving the residents of Brockton over the last five years.

Resigning from Council was not easy for Oberle, however after assessing the situation, he says he had to do what was in the best interest of his family and this job opportunity was one he could not let pass by.

Oberle adds he has learned a lot over his last five years and is proud of what Council has been able to accomplish during this time.

The Service Review stands out as one of the highlights of this work.

Oberle says he is leaving Brockton Council with good memories and best wishes for all of his former colleagues.

Brockton will now have to decide how it will fill the vacant councillor position.

The matter will be discussed at the next Brockton Council meeting on November 26th.
