Meaford eyes 2018 budget numbers.

Meaford | by Vanessa Culbert

Council tells staff to keep the increase below 4 percent.

Meaford is looking at the 2018 budget projections.

Director of Financial services and Treasurer Darcy Chapman says council has directed staff to prepare a draft budget including an overall tax levy increase not to exceed 4 per cent.

Chapman says that includes 2.5 per cent for core infrastructure funding.

He says the Collingwood Street reconstruction project will be a big part of the budget as it is expected to cost $1.1 million.

Chapman says they are not sure how much saving they are looking for in the budget.

He says departments just started their budget internally in the past week.

Staff will bring back a draft budget to council October 30th then the public will see it November 8th at Woodford hall.

Another public meeting will be held in early December.
