A judge has set bail at $1 million for a former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd’s death.
Derek Chauvin, 44, made his first court appearance yesterday, via closed-circuit television from the state’s maximum security prison in Oak Park Heights.
He is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Video shows Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and ignoring his pleas for air, while taking him into custody during an investigation more than two weeks ago.
Chauvin’s next appearance is set for June 29.
