The Province is providing more money for Long Term Care (LTC) home safety as the second Covid-19 wave takes hold.
Today Premier Doug Ford announced $540 million to protect long term care homes from the virus. The effort will go towards things like infection prevention, renovations and more PPE.
Ford also says new rules will apply concerning visits to LTC homes in hotspots like Ottawa, Peel and Toronto which currently contain 80 per cent of the Province’s cases.
“As of Monday, October the 5th, visitors to LTC homes in these areas will have to be restricted to staff, essential visitors and essential caregivers only,” said Ford. “But folks, we have made it possible for family members or friends to come in as caregivers. This kind of support is critical and I encourage family members, friends, please, please sign up to be a caregiver.”
Ford says we have to take action now to protect our most vulnerable.
Today, our government announced a $61.4 million investment for #LongTermCare renovations. This investment will help with physical distancing, upgrading HVAC systems, and repairing or replacing furniture and equipment.
