It’s a return to more restrictions in Ontario’s hotspot regions.
Today Premier Doug Ford announced business restrictions that will go into effect Saturday in Toronto, Ottawa and Peel.
Restaurants, bars and nightclubs in Ottawa and Peel will be limited to 100 customers or less with no more than six people at any table.
Toronto is already at less than 75 people in those businesses with no more than six people per table.
Gyms in hotspots too will be limited to 10 people per class and 50 people or less in the facilities. Banquet halls too will follow the same rules.
Ford says mask-wearing will also be mandatory starting tomorrow in all indoor public space throughout Ontario.
“That means wearing a mask when shopping, when taking public transit and when at work if you cant keep two metres between you and your colleagues,” said Ford.
Mask-wearing rules had previously been up to Ontario’s different regions.
More reopenings are also now on pause for at least another 28 days.
Also – Ford says starting Tuesday, assessment centres will return to appointment-based testing only.
Starting Sunday, assessment centres will stop walk-in testing.
Provincial health officials also urge people to keep their social circles tight, preferably only allowing close contact with people living in their own household while maintaining two metres of physical distance from everyone else.
@IrfanDhalla, these suggestions are spot on. We are advising that all Ontarians only allow close contact with people living in their own household and maintain two metres of physical distance from everyone else. https://t.co/WVMHEYWTfM
