The Province is moving to get community spread under control by putting Toronto and Peel Region into lockdown this Monday.
Nearly 80 per cent of recent cases are occurring in regions that are already in the Red Control zone.
Today Premier Doug Ford said Ontario is teetering on the edge of having to delay surgeries.
“I know these past few months have been extremely difficult,” said Ford. “Covid fatigue is setting in on all of us, but I’ve seen the strength of our people and it’s up to each and every one of us to determine our future – to write the next chapter of our history, and we all have a part to play.”
Locally, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit moves into the Orange-Restrict zone Monday while Grey-Bruce will be in Yellow-Protect.
The Province will be doubling support for businesses impacted by the lockdown measures come Monday with up to $600 million in relief for fixed costs. Businesses can apply today and also for a PPE grant.
Ford says we can’t put in-class learning and our long term care homes at risk.
