A 39 year old Southampton man has been seriously injured in a snowmobiling accident.
Saugeen Shores Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says the accident happened on a no-winter-maintenance road near the Saugeen Golf Club — Links Sideroad — between the 14th concession and the 10th concession.
The call came in around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning.
Eagleson says the cause the accident is still under investigation.
Saugeen Shores Police say the snowmobile had struck a pole and the driver had been ejected.
The male was transported to hospital in Southampton and subsequently airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre.
No other people were involved in the accident.
Eagleson says all snowmobile trails in Bruce and Grey are open and being used.
He says, “Snowmobiling has been kind of a dangerous at the high rate of speed,” and he wants to remind people some trails are shared and he urges everyone to stay on the trails and drive safely.
