Wellington County OPP say the remains of a person located south of Mount Forest have been identified.
According to Const. Cheri Rockefeller, investigators confirmed the identity of the remains as missing 30-year-old, Levi Edward Larter.
The Wellington North Township resident was reportedly last seen on Nov. 8th, 2020, according to police.
This follows a call received on May 4th, around 6:30 p.m., where officers responded to an area just south of Mount Forest when an individual had reportedly found the remains in a wooded rural area.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
OPP say investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
