Southampton Foodland has answered the Change a Life Challenge as part of the Gran Fondo activities and staff have a goal of raising $5,000.
Foodland owner Martino Catalano says his staff will walk the equivalent distance of traveling from Southampton, Ontario to Southampton, New York, which is 1,083 Km.
Foodland has been a proud supporter of the Hospital Foundation the last few years and reached out to the Hospital Foundation to be a Gran Fondo sponsor for this year’s event.
Southampton Foodland will help to supply one of the events grand prizes of groceries for a year.
Monies raised in the Change a Life Challenge will help raise funds to purchase new ECG machines and a ventilator for the hospital.
You may recall a few weeks ago, the Super 8 Motel staff in Port Elgin stepped up to take part in the challenge.
They said the staff will log their kilometers this summer with walking and biking until they’ve covered the distance across Ontario which is 1114Km in total.

Meanwhile, Foodland has already presented a cheque for $600 from their recent hanging flower basket sales, where $1 from every basket was donated to the Foundation.
Funds raised here will go toward the purchase of a new patient bed mattress at the hospital.
