South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janice Jackson has been re-elected Bruce County Warden for 2022.
This will be Jackson’s second term as County Warden, having served in the role in 2021 as well.
Jackson was elected to municipal council in South Bruce Peninsula in 2010 and elected as Mayor in 2014 and 2018.
She says in a statement, “It is an honour to have my Council colleagues once again instill me with the responsibilities of Warden for the upcoming year,” adding, “Together, we are working to keep our region safe, protect our most vulnerable, and help our economy recover. I look forward to pursuing a continued focus on affordable housing, quality infrastructure, and community safety initiatives. 2022 will be an exciting year for Bruce County, with many emerging opportunities for businesses, workers, and families.”
The position of Warden is achieved through a vote of peers on County Council, which is comprised of eight locally elected municipal leaders who manage the affairs of our shared community and resources.
The Warden chairs Council meetings, represents Bruce County at official functions and acts as an official spokesperson for County Council.
