The City of Owen Sound is hosting aGoods Exchange Day this weekend.
The city says the exchange day is set for Saturday and residents are invited to lay out gently-used items which are no longer needed at the curb for community members to take and reuse.
Popular items include sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art tools, toys, doors, sinks, and windows.
Anything not taken must be back inside the home by 6 p.m. later in the day.
The city is asking residents to make sure that items intended for the exchange day be tied with a white plastic bag with a sign that says “Free.”
“Participating in Goods Exchange Day diverts usable items and materials from ending up in the landfill. It is also a great way to offer your unwanted items to others in the community without the hassle of hosting a garage sale,” says the city.
Residents are advised to drive carefully, watch for pedestrians and follow traffic laws while searching for curbside items.
