Summerfolk is returning to Owen Sound this weekend with a more traditional format.
Artistic Director James Keelaghan says the 47th annual event at Kelso Beach, running Aug. 19-21, will have four stages set up during the day and two at night for over 40 performers.
Keelaghan says they made the decision to cut one of their stages that has been problematic for a few years.
“Part of the reason why we sort of cut down the number of stages is we want to give people a little bit more room to spread out. So we are creating more space in each of the areas, so the people, if they are not comfortable being shoulder to shoulder, then we have got more space to spread out,” says Keelaghan.
Keelaghan says the event starts when the gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday, with the first performance happening at 6 p.m. at the Amphitheatre.
The down by the bay events will be starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with youth discoveries performers.
Keelaghan adds for the event, they have an expanded family village this year with more entertainment and crafts for children. These activities include Indigenous crafts, a kids concert, and crafts and activities with the Owen Sound Public Library.
Keelaghan says the event will feature a variety of food vendors including wood fire pizza and barbecue.
“We have got our much loved artisan craft village with over 35 hand selected artisans selling their wears on site,” adds Keelaghan.
Some of these artisans include StrayStones, Hip Chick Designs, and Three Trees Art.
