Grey Bruce Health Services is receiving $500,000 to expand its Crisis Support Program.
This one-time funding was announced by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers, and will assist in sustaining and enhancing capacity in mental health and addictions services. It will also provide assistance in supports specifically for mental health, addictions, eating disorders, and complex mental illnesses.
“This investment of one-time funding to Grey Bruce Health Services for their Crisis Support Program will help significantly to ensure that our local residents can receive the care they need in a safe and comfortable setting,” says Byers.
This funding comes as the Minister of Health mandated the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health to put into action a roadmap to wellness. The roadmap is the province’s new mental health and addictions strategy, which supports service providers to implement related changes.
One-time funds are being assigned to Ontario Health for the 2022-23 fiscal year, which will support mental health and addiction initiatives, falling in line with the roadmap to wellness.
GBHS CEO and President Gary Sims says the Covid pandemic has contributed to a burgeoning mental health and addiction crisis in Ontario.
“These funds will enable us to care for clients in a safe, compassionate environment, and allow us to enhance our patient-centred care,” says Sims.
