One of the Harrison Park swans has passed away.
The city announced the bird had passed last Wednesday.
The swan was 17 years old and was not showing signs of illness when it died.
The swans at Harrison Park are descendants of the original six swans that were gifted to then-Mayor Elias Lemon by King George V in 1912.
They were the only birds saved last year when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency euthanized all ducks, peafowl and geese and others at the park’s bird sanctuary after avian flu was detected.
The other five domestic swans are all said to currently be healthy.
