Representatives from the Power Workers Union attended a hardhat tour of Grey Bruce Health Services’ new mental health and recovery centre in Owen Sound this week where they presented their donation of $100,000 to the new facility.
Expected to open later this fall, the facility will be the first OHIP covered program of its kind in Canada and will provide wrap around care for patients.
The program offers longer stays than traditional recovery programs, and has live-in dorm style apartments for those who may need a place to stay while they continue to learn life skills or don’t have a safe environment to return to.
A public information night will be held in early August in Port Elgin (details to be available shortly) where people drop in and hear presentations about the new facility and ask questions.
