Brockton is bringing on a new Director of Community Services.
The municipality says Colleen Gillis will be assuming the role on Sept. 18.
As Director of Community Services, she will be managing activities associated with municipal facilities, parks, and recreation like the ice rink, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, outdoor swimming pool, trails, and promoting and encouraging positive relations with various groups.
Gillis was formerly employed at the Municipality of Kincardine as the Recreation Supervisor since 2014. Additionally, she has over 17 years of progressive recreation experience, having worked through various municipal organizations.
Mayor Chris Peabody says he is very pleased to welcome Gillis to the role.
“Colleen’s municipal experience and management background in recreation and community relations will make her well positioned to lead this department,” says Peabody.
Gillis adds she is also excited about the upcoming opportunity.
“As an experienced recreation leader I am excited to be part of a progressive Brockton team and work towards implementation of the Master Recreation Plan while striving to promote healthy, active lifestyles to all residents, businesses and visitors and ensure community members have access to safe and welcoming facilities,” says Gillis.
