Bruce Peninsula Hospice is showing gratitude to local businesses for a donation commitment for the next three years.
The hospice received a donation from local hardware stores that have committed to donate $5,000 per year for three years.
Nancy Forgrave, who is the Manager of Volunteer Programs for the organization says that the donation is really full-circle, as it was local people and local businesses donating to the hospice, which serves families from all over the region.
“It’s amazing. This is such a generous contribution of our business community. And it really illustrates the power of local people helping local people.”
The participating stores were Miller’s Home Hardware Building Centre in Sauble Beach, Scott’s Home Hardware and Wilson Home Hardware in Lion’s Head, Miller Lake RONA, Wiarton Home Hardware, and Wiarton Home Design Centre.
The money will go toward training and support for their volunteers, as they travel around the community to provide in-home support respite, and bereavement care, which the organization has been doing for the past 28 years.
“It supports the work our volunteers do, visiting across the area, and the training we provide them and all of the supports we provide our volunteers, to do what we do.”
The Bruce Peninsula Hospice supports the needs of residents within the towns of South Bruce Peninsula, Northern Bruce Peninsula, and areas of Georgian Bluffs. They provide non-medical care to individuals and their families who choose end-of-life care, and bereavement support.
Forgrave says that they’re always looking for more volunteers, and you can sign up at BPHospice.ca
