The Brightshores Health System Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund is contributing over $900,000 to support patient care
Owen Sound Foundation CEO Amy McKinnon says the endowment, which was established in 1996 to allow donors to invest in local health care, raised over $919,000 for 2023-24.
“We use it towards a variety of things, so about $600,000 of it is being used for what we call the Emerging Needs Fund or the highest priority, giving the hospital the opportunity to direct the funds where they are needed the most right now,” says McKinnon. “We do a distribution from the Caring for Tomorrow Fund annually, and this year we are distributing over $900,000.”
The money will go towards various improvements to the Brightshores Owen Sound site, including an ultrasound unit, a radioactive material storage cabinet for nuclear medicine, and assisting staff in continuing their education.
The foundation says the endowment continues to grow with gifts from individuals, families and estates, with over $340,000 given in 2023.
President and CEO of Brightshores Ann Ford says for 2023/24, they prioritized $12.8 million of equipment and improvements across their hospitals.
“On behalf of the entire leadership team, thank you to each and every donor who invests in our regional health care system. Your support ensures that we can continue to provide exceptional care well into the future,” says Ford.
