The City of Owen Sound is continuing with snow removal throughout the city.
City representatives say that staff are continuing to work to make sure local roads and sidewalks are clear, while still experiencing a significant weather event.
They say that most of the snow clearing work on roads is caught up, with the exception of some lanes and culs-de-sac.
The Public Works department is continuing to deploy all available equipment on each shift.
Once the roads are completed, they’ll be working to cut back the snow banks to help improve sight lines. After that, the focus will shift to sidewalks and widening several streets.
The city says it isn’t easy because of so much snowfall this winter, but are asking residents to remain patient, particularly since the city has 107 km of sidewalk, and only four sidewalk plows. In addition, the sidewalk plows are only capable of travelling 6 km per hour when their blowers are in use.
The City of Owen Sound is also reminding everyone be mindful of parking restrictions, and to avoid parking on the streets even during the day, particularly if your street requires plowing.
