Owen Sound is closing some roads this week for excess snow removal.
Starting at 7 a.m. today, the city says it will be closing 8th Street East between 2nd and 3rd Avenue East.
The city will also implement rolling road closures in the river district as they work to remove excess snow.
“This approach will improve safety and accessibility for vehicles and pedestrians while minimizing disruption to the entire downtown area,” says the city in a release.
On Wednesday, crews will be removing snow on 8th Street East between 2nd Avenue East and 1st Avenue West, as well as on 2nd Avenue East between 9th Street East and 10th Street East on Thursday.
The city notes this schedule is dependent on weather conditions and updates will be provided on the Owen Sound website.
“This removal is above and beyond the usual winter maintenance of plowing streets and sidewalks. Snowbanks will be hauled to designated snow disposal sites where they can safely be stored and later, melt without causing issues,” says the city.
