Road and infrastructure work is being done on the south end of Goderich Street in Port Elgin, and there’s a planned water service disruption Wednesday.
The Town says water service to some properties in the area of Goderich Street, Ivings Drive and Barnes Avenue will be temporarily interrupted on Wednesday, May 7th from 7a.m. to 7p.m.
They Town says, “This service disruption is due to the replacement of aging underground water infrastructure as part of the Goderich Street Resurfacing project.”
The affected properties include a number of businesses and restaurants in the mainly commercial area.
A spokesperson for the Town notes, it will be up to the businesses themselves to determine if they are able to remain open that day. They add, “The Town encourages residents to support businesses affected by the temporary disruption in a variety of ways including shopping the business’s online store, writing reviews and sharing the business’s content on social media.”
The businesses and residents in the affected area received hand delivered notices from the project team on Wednesday, April 30 detailing the water service disruption.
