West Grey is going to consider issuing a tender for the rehabilitation of a bridge in Normanby.
This comes after the structure on Concession 16 was closed in September as a result of its current condition.
Council reviewed a report last year presenting three options, do nothing, rehabilitate the structure or replace it. The report says the bridge was an ideal candidate for rehabilitation.
Construction on the bridge was deferred until the Bridge Prioritization Program was completed which was later finished and approved earlier this year as an outline for how the municipality will address the structures in need of repair.
Council set aside $300,000 during this year’s budget deliberations to rehabilitate the structure.
By moving forward with the tendering process, Director of Infrastructure and Public Works Geoff Aitken says in a report the work can be completed to allow be operational for this winter.
Council will consider approving moving ahead with the tendering process during its meeting on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
