Construction continues at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford.
The military recently released a reminder as the construction season ramps up again, that you may see a large number of trucks going in and out of the area carrying various forms of aggregate.
Construction is typically taking place between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. but extended hours may also occur.
The work has been focusing on two practice ranges. First, the Paardeberg Range which is used for anti-armour systems like the M-72 disposable rocket-propelled grenade or the Carl Gustaf 84mm recoilless rifle.
The other range is the Cassino range where a 40mm grenade launcher the M-203 is used.
Work is expected to continue until September or October.
The training centre says in a statement, “This project will create critical infrastructure that will enable safe and effective training to continue at 4 CDTC.”
They’re thanking the community for its understanding, saying, “Without the support of local communities, military members would not be able to accomplish their mission. Local communities provide key supports and services to military members that are necessary and appreciated. Activities on base occasionally impact the local area. While this may be unavoidable at times, 4 CDTC appreciates the understanding of local residents and does not underestimate this very important reciprocal relationship.”
