The City of Owen Sound will begin infrastructure improvements to the 27th Street West Sanitary Pump Station this week.
Starting Wednesday, the rehabilitation project will modernize the aging pump station infrastructure by replacing old equipment and install new technology to meet future needs.
The upgrades will include advanced control systems which will come with automated monitoring and the ability to respond faster to any service issues.
There will also be enhanced safety features and the implementation of pumping systems to ensure no interruption to wastewater services during construction.
“This infrastructure investment will deliver immediate and long-term benefits to the community. The improved reliability from the updated, modern equipment and automated monitoring systems will significantly reduce the risk of service disruptions and equipment failures,” says the city in a release.
There is no planned interruption to wastewater services during construction and residents will be notified in advance of any temporary construction in their area.
