The Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League have agreed to terms with center Nick Suzuki on an 8-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $7.875 million.
When the new contract kicks in next season, it’ll make Suzuki the Canadiens highest-paid skater.
Suzuki who played most of 4 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Attack, posted 41 points in 56 games last season with Montreal plus 16 more points during Montreal’s run to the Stanley Cup Final.
During his time with the Attack, Suzuki put up 279 points, which left him behind only Bobby Ryan and Andrew Brunette for career points in Owen Sound. He finished in the Top 10 for Goals, Assists & Points while with the Attack.
After being dealt by Owen Sound to Guelph in January of 2019, Suzuki accumulated 49 more points for the Storm to finish his OHL career with 328 points.
