From South Etobicoke, Ontario, Lionel Doe set out to record what was to be a simple, acoustic, singer-songwriter EP. He had been exploring more deep-seeded roots music for years whilst playing in a couple local bands, and finally took the opportunity to give life to song ideas that had been fermenting in his consciousness. The project was to be gritty and beautiful, and thus called “So Dirty the Flamingos”.
The quintet is comprised of veteran songwriters and musicians that have sequestered themselves to dark rooms for years and are now cranking out original tunes that come straight from the heart. Unamerican Girl, their second release, is a five-song EP recorded at their own Sodipop Studios in the heart of Mimico, South Etobicoke.
The single from the EP, “Before the Misfits”, demonstrates the strengths and unique sound of members Lionel Doe, Adam Drury, Devin Jannetta, Scott Dunn and Ciara Logar. Here are So Dirty the Flamingos, with Before the Misfits.
