Hanover Police have arrested an individual they’re calling the “Ring of Fire Bandit”.
Police Chief Christopher Knoll says on Aug. 27, police received a report from a local business on the 800 block of 10th Street. The business indicated that at around 4 a.m., a metal fire pit had been stolen.
Knoll says officers on patrol spotted the accused on 7th Avenue near Food Basics on Aug. 30 around 7 p.m., and placed the individual under arrest without incident.
Knoll adds the 48-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of breaching probation, and breach of a weapon prohibition order.
Knoll says the accused was released with bail conditions to appear in court in Walkerton on Oct. 12 to answer the charges.
Knoll adds the accused was also wanted by South Bruce OPP for breaching probation.
Knoll says the title Ring of Fire Bandit was given to the accused by Hanover Police due to the nature of the unusual theft.
