Saugeen Shores Police say a 47-year old man has been sentenced in relation to a crash last Christmas day.
Police say, on July 20th, 2022 a 47-year-old man of no fixed address was convicted of several offences in relation to a single vehicle crash that involved the driver fleeing police and hitting a house.
Police say the accused (who they did not name) was convicted of:
Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm
Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm
Operation While Prohibited – Criminal Code
He was sentenced to 60 days custody on top of the 310 days he had already served.
He was also issued a driving prohibition for 3 years.
Police say, back on December 25th, 2021, at 2:30p.m., the accused was driving in the area of Barnes Avenue and Bricker Street when he failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
Police say the vehicle was estimated to be travelling at a rate of speed of 90km/hour.
They say a traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle attempted to flee, and while doing that, failed to negotiate a turn shortly after and collided with a residence.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle sustained serious injuries.
They add, a resident in the home that was struck also sustained serious injuries.
