Owen Sound wants some feedback as it works through the environmental assessment process for the reconstruction of Alpha Street.
A public meeting’s been called for Thursday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at city hall after a presentation to the operations committee.
The study area includes a section of Alpha Street between Grey Road 17B and 6th Avenue West.
“The existing road includes a two-lane urban cross-section and a continuous sidewalk on the easterly side,” a release from the city explains. “The basic intentions of the project are to improve the road surface and underground infrastructure and to support the city’s active transportation initiatives.”
The addition of a truck climbing lane, a sidewalk on the west side, a bike lane or an active transportation lane are some of the possibilities under consideration.
Written comments are also being accepted until March 31. They can be sent to the city’s manager of engineering services Chris Webb at cwebb@owensound.ca., or John Slocombe of GM BluePlan Engineering at john.slocombe@gmblueplan.ca.
