A Saugeen Shores man faces a long list of charges after being arrested in Owen Sound while in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
Owen Sound Police say they responded to calls about a man trying to “forcibly enter an east side residence” to confront someone known to him around 6 p.m. last Thursday, Aug. 24.
Police say the man couldn’t get into the house and he then fled the area, striking two other vehicles in the process.
“The man failed to remain at either location and was heard and observed squealing his tires and driving in an aggressive and dangerous manner,” Owen Sound Police say.
City Police then received a call about the suspect parking his vehicle at a west side apartment, where he damaged another car.
The 25-year-old man was located by police walking away from his vehicle in the 900 block of 8th Avenue West.
Owen Sound Police say the man did not comply during the arrest, and he had to be tasered by officers.
Police say they located a sawed-off shotgun concealed in the man’s pants, which was loaded and “ready to be fired.”
“Fortunately, no members of the public, the accused or the responding officers were injured as a result of this incident,” Owen Sound Police say in a statement.
The accused, a 25-year-old Saugeen Shores man, was charged with several offences including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and causing a disturbance.
