The tennis/pickleball courts at Harrison Park in Owen Sound are getting revamped next year.
The 2021 draft capital budget presented to council last week includes $30,000 for courts resurfacing.
According to a city staff report, the surface at the Harrison Park tennis and pickle ball courts has worn smooth from use. The court becomes extremely slippery when damp in its current state and can present a danger to players.
A city staff report explains this budget allocation would be for a contractor to remove the existing coating and apply a new one, as well as paint new lines for both tennis and pickle ball.
The expected useful life of the new surface is 10 years.
A city budget sheet projects construction on the tennis court revamp would start in June 2021.
