A new Federal Government measure means people arriving at our airports must have had a negative PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) Covid-19 test within three days preceding their trip.
Also – if you fail to fulfil the Covid-19 14-day quarantine obligations you could face six months in jail and/or a maximum fine of $750,000.
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says Canada’s Covid-19 Cabinet Committee met today to look at more measures to help stop the spread of the virus.
“We strongly advise against all discretionary travel,” said Blair. “And if you must travel, understand that upon your return to Canada, you must follow guidelines and quarantine for 14 days. It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s the law.”
The UK variant is now in Canada, which is helping fuel the new measures
The country has also increased its security presence at international airports here to make sure people understand their quarantine obligations.
